Opt In & the NMSU Discovery Portal

  • How do I opt into the NMSU Discovery Portal?
    Log into Digital Measures and click on the Focus Areas screen. Select “Yes” in the field “Information Publicly Available?” and then click the Save button. Please note that it could be up to one week before the Portal is updated and your information is included on the NMSU Discovery Portal.
  • How do I opt out of the NMSU Discovery Portal?
    Log into Digital Measures and click on the Focus Areas screen. Select “No” in the field “Information Publicly Available?” and then click the Save button. Please note that it could be up to one week before the Portal is updated and your information is removed from the NMSU Discovery Portal.
  • What is the NMSU Discovery Portal?
    The NMSU Discovery Portal will provide an important reporting tool for accreditation as well as a resource for information that can allow faculty across campus to connect about related research.
  • How do I access the NMSU Discovery Portal?
  • How do I get a photo taken for the NMSU Discovery Portal?
    • Coming soon: A photography studio will be set up to take professional head shots of faculty in Regents Row, room B108. This is in a central location across from Zuhl Library.
    • Coming soon: A sign up form for photo appointments will include name, department, college, Banner ID, requested date and time to take the photo and a comment box.

  • How often does the NMSU Discovery Portal update?
    Generally, the update occurs once a week on Saturday.
  • What information will be posted?
    The portal will showcase our faculty and allow them to post photos, bios, vitae, research papers and citations as well as teaching, outreach and service activities.
  • What information comes from Digital Measures?
    • Data for the NMSU Discovery Portal will be gathered from a number of sources which include Digital Measures and Banner.
    • Information taken from DM includes the following screens: Personal and Contact Information; Yearly Data; Focus Areas; Awards and Honors; Education; Professional Memberships; Artistic and Professional Performances and Exhibits; Books, Journals and Other Text-Based Contributions; Scheduled Teaching; Community Engagement, Extension, and Outreach
    • Of course, it is important to keep these screens updated in order to showcase your latest work and areas of interest.
